Hooked directed by UQ Drama Senior Lecturer and Queensland Shakespeare Ensemble Artistic Director Rob Pensalfini, uses Forum Theatre to explore the Culture of Addiction. Hooked specifically incorporates themes of gambling, body image and technology/malicious intent with subtexts of bullying, alienation and isolation.
Many of these behaviours result from social pressures.
These can impact not only the individual, but also those surrounding them.
In Forum Theatre, audience members do not have to remain passive recipients, but are given the opportunity to step into the action and try alternative strategies to get a different result. It's a theatrical brainstorm.
